A lot of the teachers are pretty decent, but when there are teachers that abuse their power the school does nothing about it, even if students report them multiple times. They spend more money on “water bubblers” (definitely bs) and new buildings then they do on usable bathrooms and stuff that students actually need. The bullying culture at AC is horrendous. The school boasts about mental health support and inclusivity but when there’s actually an issue they do nothing about it. I cannot count the amount of times that I have been told to “stand up for myself” or to just tell someone about it but when I do nothing happens or the student just gets a warning. The school focuses more on nitpicking you’re uniform and appearance over your actual education and wellbeing. We are always told that high school will be the best years of our lives and that we’ll miss it and it’ll be harder once we graduate but honestly it’s no surprise that a lot of AC students drop out or attempt suicide before becoming a senior. If you are trans, poc, nuerodiverse, dress alternatively, have a visible disability or are just generally “different” I would not recommend going to this school. Your life will be a living hell
Albany Creek State High School’s main issue is how bullying is dealt with. As an example, a friend of mine has been relentlessly bullied since Primary School. This year, a particular student was constantly harassing them. My friend and I reported this on multiple occasions. One day, this bully trued to start a fight with my friend. This was when the school finally took some action. They said to my face that they had heard nothing if this bullying - despite my reporting it many times prior to the fight - and only then was the bully suspended and action was taken. We are told not to be bi-standers, but also told not to take action against the bully, what are we meant to do? If we do nothing, it is bad, if we report it, nothing is done until something incredibly significant has occurred, if we stand up for the victim we get in trouble. This system is very confusing and our school constantly reminds us of how against bullying they are. This does not make much sense to me
It’s not a bad school the only thing that brings it down is the students that attended. Lots of bullying but there is an anti-bullying system in place that does tend to work. Teachers were good always wanted to do their job well. The buildings are all air-conned and recently the phone policies have eased up a bit. The uniform policies are annoying but there’s no official ‘boys and girls formal uniform’ so if you’re trans and out you can change to the other uniform with little to no protest. Overall, I didn’t want to go there ended up going there, made some good friends met some cool teachers. Best part was the canteen food top tier that food miss it all the time.
Everything about the school is a problem all the little tiny things you can accidentally do and you either get a detetion or write up and more it is ridiculous how bad the school is your breaks are small and they don't care about bullying at all teachers are way too harsh and it makes life harder on nearly every teenager in the school you always wanna skip classes cause we it's not worth going cause you don't wanna be at this horrible school in general I just recommend you don't go
This school doesn't do anything to stop or prevent bullying or harassment or threats. They spend more time making sure you don't have your phone or aren't playing games and running on the concrete then focusing on the real issue at acshs and it disgusting. Almost every single student at the school either vapes or damages property and the school do nothing about it they don't have anything for the children to do at breaks they spend more money on carparks and science blocks then fixing the bathrooms. There is currently 2 toilets in the entire school that are some what usable that's 2 toilets for 2000 kids and 100 odd teachers. The teachers are horrible treating us like slaves and garbage swearing their heads off and hitting us with books and expecting kids to want to come to school every day just to put up with this everyday. They give out detentions willy nilly for no reason and it's mandatory to show up regardless on what it is even if it isn't for anything teachers abuse that right and or power. this school is horrible. They dont do anything to prevent bullying or abuse to other kids their are fights almost every day and the teachers don't do anything. If I had the choice I wouldn't go to that school at all
School had many issues with racism and white supremacist students. Admin took next to no action at all to try and eradicate this issues and seemed more interested in enforcing pointless rules like phone bans and swearing than actually doing anything useful
Some rules are a bit annoying like if your phone falls out of your pocket then you have to take it down to the office and they keep it for the rest of the day and depending on what strike your on, it could be a warning, detention, or LEC which is interschool suspension. I hate this rule because they don’t make the girls formal skirt’s pocket big enough for a phone, so how are we supposed to make sure it doesn’t fall out when our pockets are way too small? Plus the boys get like 3 pockets in their formal shorts. Another thing is some teachers don’t allow students to go to the bathroom during class which is odd. And i think it’s a school rule that students are not allowed to go out of class to get a drink of water. Like what? It’s Australia… it’s hot, everyone gets dehydrated if they don’t drink enough water. let us go out and get a drink ffs. Some of the tuckshop ladies aren’t very nice lol. You aren’t allowed to have coloured hair, it has to be natural. No make up, nails, eyelash extensions, jewellery are allowed. There are multiple bathrooms around the school but the girls tuckshop bathroom did not have ANY soap at all last year!! which is disgusting and the teachers are the ones who are always saying it’s important to have good hygiene. Also, some doors don’t have locks on them so they are basically un- usable. The school has enough money to build more classrooms but they don’t have enough money to put soap in bathrooms? really?
