Good for early school - bad for later on

The school is good for earlier high school years, however there is less and less focus on students in later years. The school is becoming less community focused and has become ingenuine. Everything they do is for their image rather then actually dealing with problems. They don’t tackle issues like bullying or assault seriously at all. Many students have been assaulted by bullies and teachers will result to victim blaming rather then dealing out consequences. The head of VCE, Michelle Farrand, is known for being extremely condescending and outright mean to students. Students are scared to go to her with their problems or concerns because she’s known for victim blaming. This school was really good in Years 7 and 8 - but as I said earlier on, they become less concerned in later years due to how they don’t need to win you over anymore. Subject choices are very limited in VCE compared to other schools. VCAA also tends to scale down SAC results due to how the school gives students easier sacs in comparison to other schools - meaning study scores are lowered at the school’s fault.

Best in the hills

An overall positive school, with many great learning opportunities and its early roots in a community driven environment based in the green hills of Belgrave. Over the years many changes have been made to better the school learning experience for the students, making the school a more comfortable, and beautiful place. With the acquisition of a new principal, recent developments have been highly expansion focused, through very expensive property buildings, losing some community feel but making Belgrave a bigger and more appealing environment. The staff are mostly experienced and friendly people, with the acquisition of some young and less experienced staff in the more recent years. It’s the best learning environment in the hills overall.
