Appalling

art teacher is a homophobe who bullies kids, a bunch of boys passed around CSEM of a primary school girl and revenge p*** of a senior and didn't even get suspended, but you will get expelled if you speak up about anything, one of the worst schools I've ever been to, don't go to Craigslea especially if Ur a girl who values her safety

This school sucks

The sport teachers are sexist and very rude to students and I heard from my sister that just graduated taht sport teachers takes other students out for drinks after they graduate which is honestly disgusting. Mr adams the yr 9 level coordinator said the n-word to the class saying it’s for teaching purposes. Boys vape a lot and it’s disgusting and blows it in to other ppls faces and some boys in grades gets beaten and punched from some black ppl and it’s very wrong. One boy cries when I call him a her because he’s a trans fuck and this school is horrible and mr Bernard is very terrible and miss merkartny is a bitch and she should get fired because she’s sexist and alot of white boys in yr 9,10,11 say the n-word thinking they can but they can’t and alot of boys are just fucking eshays and should get fucked honestly.

terrible

The school bathrooms are unsanitary, I’m in year 10 this year and I’ve seen many disgusting things.
- girls bathrooms run out of soap and paper and the toilet paper gets stuck inside the machine
- the floors are always wet

and i’ve seen photos of the boys bathroom with piss all over the floor, human poo on the toilet seat and the scent of it when i walk past disgusts me for the whole day

the uniform ladies are extremely fat phobic and body shame the ladies.

my art teacher told me to go back to my country.

my hpe teacher in year 7 threatened to sexually assault me.

It’s ok

Many wonderful teachers who work and care about the students more than they should for how much they’re probably paid. In particular, Mr McCourt is a math teacher whose teaching style has been described by the majority of senior students as beneficial to their studies. However, the bathrooms run out of soap, toilet paper and paper towels less than 2 hours into the school day and remain empty after that, which is beyond unsanitary. I have hope that the school will remedy this issue in 2023.

Enrolment into the music program would be desirable, there are touring opportunities to Sydney and Hobart, as well as yearly development camps (just practicing music intensely for like 4 days straight) that are nice. The music community is nice.

Yeah…if I didn’t play an instrument I might have rated this lower. But I did, so, enrol your kid in the music program even if they can’t play, they will be able to join a band or orchestra and go on trips with them eventually, so the earlier the better.

I was by no means an exemplary student. I doubt that my ATAR will be satisfactory in the eyes of…any. I heard that the median ATAR was 77, that is what I achieved. If you’d like a review from an established academic, you might never get one because they’re probably busy studying computer science and/or attributing CEO-level wealth.

To continue, I’ll talk about extracurricular sports. The boy’s basketball teams are great, they work extremely hard, and the girl’s team worked extremely hard when it was active as well. The basketballers deserve both more recognition and, if the school was richer, their own dedicated indoor basketball courts. The only indoor courts in the school are multipurpose courts which are mostly booked out for the volleyballers, also there was a huge rumour going around during my attendance that the school would be building a giant volleyball stadium on top of the only dedicated basketball courts. Those dedicated basketball courts are outdoor courts, they get scorching hot during the summer and yet you still see basketballers coming to school hours early and leaving hours late just to train. That’s all that needs to be said.

I didn’t participate in any other sports.

Any can be established by emailing and asking teachers around the school, as long as the teacher you’re asking, or you yourself are willing to take on full marketing duty.

The esports team was reestablished in 2021 and advertised using an Instagram page. This allowed Leage of Legends team members to compete in QUT tournaments (I think it was 2 or 3 that year), they didn’t win any but it was suuuper fun. Oh yeah, I convinced my teacher to re-establish that club, lol.

I would highly suggest trying your best to enrol in the excellence in science program, yes it’s difficult, but you are able to conduct mentally engaging experiments in nearly every lesson, as well as be taught in a science lab by enthusiastic gems of teachers every year, rather than being taught off of a PowerPoint in a normal classroom and getting to do an experiment rather rarely.

I’d very much like to stress that if you do not enrol in the music program, the amount of excursion opportunities you have will likely halve.

When it comes to teachers, you either get lucky, or you don’t. English teachers, luck based, General Science teachers, luck based, Excellence in Science teachers, they’re all pretty passionate, General Math Teachers, idk but Mr McCourt is a universally great teacher so I guess just hope you get him, Extension Math Teachers, mixed bag, STEM teachers, all pretty good, Mr Toll is the best in my opinion, Art Teachers, decide when you get there, Design teacher, great teacher.

In terms of safety. Can’t tell you much. I heard someone got stabbed, but I was graduating that year so…
I would just make sure to stay hanging out with the right crowd. Someone throwing a chair at a literal bully and getting suspended, that happened while I was at school. The whole cohort agreed that he was justified in throwing the chair, lol. That’s different from someone getting stabbed though, I don’t know why it happened, but apparently it did so…stay safe I guess.

It’s not like the school is violent, but violent students (as in violent instigators rather than reactors) do exist. You should just stay away from them. By year 11 everyone is too stressed to care and by year 12 the students who don’t care about school have dropped out.

Alrightttt, once again, music program, please and thank you.

I’m all you’ve got from the graduating cohort of 2022 I’m afraid.

I rated the school average for students who don’t participate in the music program, but I would rate it 4 stars for those who do.

You’re welcome Craigslea.
