For the most part the staff were great and bullying was handled with care.
I feel that they need training on the more complex relationships because there were complex relationships where friends would bully each other and hang up on another friend etc.
My 5th grade teacher had it out for me, I’ve always had a pretty placid personality. She would signal me out and attempted to have my parents make me see mental health professionals to diagnose me with ADHD despite not actually showing symptoms. I feel she overstepped her boundaries and she alienated me which did cause bullying and issues with my friends.
My 6th grade teacher was amazing and she really helped with my mental health and self esteem. She was highly respectful and communicated so well. I still have a some letters she wrote to me as a child and it’s really eye opening how much she cared. Communicating how it hurt her feelings when I didn’t behave well and that she believed that I had a lot of potential and was a great student when I put in the effort etc. This particular teacher really had a massive effect on my declining self esteem and I think her kindness helped me a lot.
I think the main downside I experienced at this school was when the principal involved his own religious beliefs too much and prevented the rest of the school from engaging in Christmas celebrations when a large majority did celebrate. However this didn’t last.
