This is a great school for people who live in all places, including overseas. There are so many unique and great people who are easy to get along with. There are people from every state in Australia. It does make it easier though if you attend Timbertop because that way you have unique friendships in which they should be lifelong, considering the memories (good or bad) that you share.
Most of the teachers are very knowledgeable, kind and willing to help you in your endeavours, whatever they may be. Some are stricter than others but you get used to it. I have never had an issue so far with any of them, but I did have some qualms in Year 9.
The dining hall is great with a huge variety of food options, from hot to cold and take-away. You don't even have to go there as in boarding houses you can bring your own cold and pantry food.
The campus is huge and does take a while to get used to, but once you know the general areas of classrooms, that will get you through.
School spirit is pretty strong, with plenty of house events that you gain points for attending.
There is a huge variety of sports, for different seasons, such as rowing or tennis for summer, and girls/boys footy, soccer and girls netball. The rivalry between GGS and The Geelong College is pretty fierce, there is an event in T3 dedicated to it (Derby Day). There is also co-curricular activities such as horse polo and fencing.
There is two musicals each year - senior school and middle school. For SS, these usually sell out and play to about 1500 people. Not sure about middle school.
Co-curricular activities range from Philosophy Club to Debating. There's something for everyone.
Overall I really like this school and I'm super glad I chose to attend in Year 9 and onwards.
This is a great school for people who want to be independent yet surrounded by people whose company they enjoy. It's a very welcoming school, but your best option is to join in Year 9 as Timbertop can really solidify your friendships and friendships groups, as well as relationships. I have liked all my teachers in Year 10, the staff who look after you in your house or dayhouse are all great, despite the fact some are more strict than others. The dining hall has a great variety of options, there is always something to eat. Sometimes there is frequent maintenance issues within the house, at least mine, but they are usually fixed with 3-4 days.
There are so many different people here and it is hard to find someone who you don't get along with, but not impossible.
