i’ll start off by saying i am a former queer student with learning difficulties.
i was bullied ruthlessly , i was physically assaulted multiple times by another student whilst also being harrassed by multiple peers inside and outside of school hours. this was continuous for two years . i reported every incident to the vice principal and no action was taken. these problems got so bad that i couldn’t stay at the school for a period longer then two hours at a time. and still nothing happened . “if you don’t like what’s happening , then you can leave” was what i was told by the vice principal when i had been assaulted once again by a student. at that point i stopped attending and haven’t gone back since. (left in 2021)
i also have severe processing issues which causes me to be “slow” when learning. during my first year i was ignored throughout the whole of the mathematics course . everytime i went to ask a question the teacher either sighed and angrily explained the work to me , or walked to the other side of the room to ignore me . i’ve recently found out through mental health diagnosis that i am at a grade 4 level of maths.
there were also multiple other incidents in which teachers were ableist towards me and my needs (like i said before i have learning difficulties and my needs were NEVER met) .
overall hoxton park high school has a horrible group of staff that do not care for your well-being or education. i wouldn’t recommend this school to anyone that has any difficulty with curriculum work , is disabled , or identifies as queer.
