The school has really downgraded over the past year and a half. Many rules and practices put into place in attempt to stop poor behaviour, rather causing an increase and putting well behaved students at a loss. School is no longer education based and teachers voice this opinion to the students. Teacher and students do not wanna be here and wish for a more fair work and school life. However, compared to other school communities, is no where near as bad as it could be.
Some of the experiences are good but not many, a lot of bullying, littering, and vaping going on, and although the teachers don’t have favourites, they still target people to send out of the room, do not recommend
as an ex student Kapunda Highschool had shown many queer, and mentally ill or overall underprivileged students a cold shoulder and a lack of support both socially and educationally. multiple teachers allowing transphoic, and homophobic harrassment, or just overall bullying and violent threats from other students. and students getting a very minimal lack of mental support from staff whom are meant to be in charge of that section of what should be in a school. very few teachers had empathy for students external circumstances and most would consider it an excuse, especially those who were dealing with mental health issues that impacted their performance and attendance. school needs a serious reteaching of naviagating topics such as lgbt relationships, gender as a whole, and sexual education. as well as more resources for mental health care at school considering Kapunda is a rural area and already severely lacks even the most basic mental health care.
