katoomba high is certainly not the worst school in the blue mountains but it could easily be improved. they care more about locking the bathrooms at breaks than they do racism or SA. The school is fairly LGBTQ+ friendly but students do not receive proper consequences for saying slurs (as they often do) KHS has had a lot of "scandals" in the past and being around some teachers or other students can make you quite uncomfortable. Most teachers are relaxed about uniform and dont care if you dont wear it. Please unlock the bathrooms at lunch, i need to pee.
So many sexual assault and abuse cases at this school involving staff and the students. Very uncomfortable and concerning how the principal tries to brush this stuff under the rug. Staff would rather focus on stopping kids vaping than preventing them from being abused.
I attended this school years ago, during my time there I tried to explain to staff how I was struggling with abuse at home and needed extra help, all I got was a one time referral to see the school therapist and then they just gave up on me. I felt like none of them cared, I tried my best but I eventually gave up on myself and dropped out of school. The staff are only nice and helpful towards to the high achieving students that come from happy homes. They don’t care about struggling kids coming from disadvantaged families.
every second of my existence in this place made me want to jump off the stairs but clearly they know how awful this school is because they already had suicide nets in place.
