Teaching At KDC

After seeing a review from one of my students, I felt compelled to share my own experience as a teacher. I must address some critical issues that have made this role increasingly challenging.

Over time, I have endured verbal abuse from students I am entrusted to teach. Sadly, this is not an isolated experience; I have also witnessed fellow educators being bullied and disrespected by students. This behavior is unacceptable and undermines the safe, supportive learning environment we strive to create.

Additionally, we urgently need stronger regulations and more comprehensive measures to address misconduct. I have seen male students engage in inappropriate and even harmful behavior, including instances of sexual misconduct, while female students have been involved in bullying their peers. These actions must not be overlooked or dismissed. Clear policies and consistent consequences are essential to ensure a safe and equitable environment for everyone.

The emotional toll of working in such an environment cannot be understated. Many of us feel drained and unsupported, thus students have been drained too. I urge the school administration and community to take these concerns seriously which they won’t as I’ve been asking for years for them to change this and they have not proposed a working solution.

Us teachers also need to do better at spotting AI work because nearly every assignment I grade now feels like it’s been written by a machine. We don’t have proper tools or systems to catch it, so what’s the point of students even coming to school if they’re just going to cheat their way through with AI and never actually learn anything? Other schools have far better ways of detecting ai usage than us.

Additionally, there have been instances of staff members having quite disrespectful attitudes towards other members of this teaching team. We have to work with them each other everyday I understand that you are stressed but let’s not create a horrendous environment for us too. It is crucial for all stakeholders—to work together to address these issues before other schools make a laughing fuckin stock out of us.

Porn Obsessed Students and Careless Teachers

Back before I left this high school I saw pretty disturbing things especially in when I was in the younger years 8,9,10 and I’m sure most other students can relate. First off male students like to yell out sexual stuff in class some teachers just pretend they didn’t hear tho it makes some girls feel uncomfortable but other bully girls laugh. Boys in those levels make moaning sounds and act dirty in class when called upon or to get attention from teachers, I’ve seen multiple students either say sexually explicit and inappropriate comments about random female students of female teachers. Male teachers get cursed at constantly but some think it’s funny and choose to ignore it because they are favouring the popular bully girl and boy student gangs. Also in year 12 one of my friends said that the male teacher actually let students write in his computer that was projected to the whole class “Porn Hub” I was really disgusted tbh that the teacher didn’t even react at all and just let it slide. Don’t send your kids to this school it’s pretty sickening.

Bullying

In this dreary institution, lazy teachers loom large. It's clear that only the gifted or the "popular" kids bask in the fickle light of attention. The mean girls and naughty boys like my now bf Dion are favoured like twisted royalty, receiving undue assistance while others languish in obscurity. My brother Milo and his best friend Jack were forsaken, left to stumble in the abyss of failure. The teaching is quite meh as a year 11 student nothing special. Sometimes I want to die from boredom in chem and math. Bullying happens but my brother Milo escaped it his got good friends.

Teachers Turn a Blind Eye

Bullying is a huge problem at this school, and it feels like the teachers just don’t care. A lot of the VCE teachers seem really lazy—doing the bare minimum and complaining all the time. Bullying happens right in front of them, and they just look the other way.

Plus, tons of kids vape in the bathrooms, and some even smoke weed, which makes it super uncomfortable to go in there. When it comes to teaching, they mostly just hand out textbooks and pre-made PowerPoints without really engaging with us. In VCE, it felt like some teachers were purposely trying to hold certain students back by not giving enough resources and making SACS unfair.

I get that this isn't a private school, but private schools at least try to help their students get good grades. It feels like some teachers enjoy undergrading our work and playing favorites. I ended up teaching myself most of what I needed to know for VCE.

Back in year 7 and 8, some students even bullied our teachers—like calling one teacher fat and throwing stuff at another. I had issues with attendance, but no one really cared; they just wanted to cover their own backs. I missed important events and no one bothered to check in on me.

In my senior years, the teachers seemed really indifferent. My homegroup teacher barely spoke to me and treated me like I was invisible and an outsider and that there was somthing wrong with me. Most of the teachers did the same—they didn’t care about me and made sure it was known that I was the outsider/loser that had no friends. The students treated me like crap in my year level but I didn't expect the teachers to ignore and alienate me further in my senior years. Even when I cried in class, they acted like they didn’t see anything.

Also, I saw a lot of physical fights in the yard during year 10, especially among younger girls. It was pretty gross, tbh. I kinda wish I never went to this school.

Worst High School in Melbourne

Got bullied and despite teachers seeing it they didn't care, (not even the lazy well being councilor cared and she dismissed me) I was alienated up until year 12 no one wanted to even talk to me. No one even asked if I was okay despite bad attendance, The teachers only gave attention to the loud students, never the quite introverted students, classes are too full thus no individualized learning, the teachers are all lazy they just read off pre-made PowerPoints, so much violence in this high school witnessed 7 physical fights throughout my year 7-12 journey, also witnessed teachers getting name called numerously. Also lots of flirting and favoring between students and teachers not sure if this was meant to be playful though? Overall this high school made me want to die.

Red house the best.

I believe that Keilor Downs college is pretty good and is if not one of the best high schools in the area. Though some of the facilities are a bit outdated, it is not enough to be a worry. The school has variety of clubs and does not solely just emphasise the sport clubs, and some clubs have a specific areas or spaces which is nice. No school has a perfect collection of teachers but I believe that most of the teachers are good at what they do, and I personally won the lottery in that sense every year. There is a good community if you look at as a whole and there's no bullying among students; though I must note that some students act in a mob like behaviour, but they aren't a problem if you just ignore them as most of them are pretty chill. I highly recommend this school, but I'm biased.
