I am a student who attended Maribyrnong as a Sports Academy Scholarship holder. The school itself isn't as bad as many people make it seem on other online reviews. The classrooms are all pretty renovated and look alright however the portables are old and one of them smells a bit off putting but it still used as a classroom as far as I know. Like any school there are some teachers who are extremely dedicated to helping students while other do the bare minimum to get some of their students to pass tests and exams so that results do not reflect badly on them. Thankfully there are only a handful of teachers which are the latter. To improve the school could probably build more shaded outside areas as when it rains they only open one classroom per sub school (2 year levels) which would result in packed classrooms and would force students to stay outside. The sports program was extremely helpful and teachers were often more understanding of the lesser amount of work many student athletes required due to training commitments. Another thing that needs switched is the rule about changing clothes. Students must get changed before their sporting classes and out of the sports uniform at either recess or lunch. This was an issue for everyone as all cubicles would fill up almost instantly when the bell went and many students would end up being forced to get changed in front of lockers. Changing didn't seem like an issue at first but when you want to eat but end up spending your lunchtime waiting for a cubicle 5 days a week, it gets tiring. The school has just received a new principal though, so there are high hopes for a better future for the school.
