As a parent, I trusted Mercy College to provide a safe and supportive environment for my child. Sadly, that was not my experience.
Bullying became such a serious issue that I had no choice but to withdraw my child from the school. I thought this would finally bring peace and safety. Unfortunately, the harassment has since started again, showing that the problem was never properly addressed.
When I contacted the school about the harassment, this was the Principal’s reply:
> “Please be advised that the school’s responsibility is limited to matters occurring during school hours and on school premises. As the incident you have described took place outside of school hours, it falls beyond our jurisdiction. We recommend that you consider reporting this matter to the appropriate authorities, such as the police, to ensure it is handled appropriately.”
In response, I wrote back:
> “I would like to ask would this same reply have been given if my daughter were still a student at Mercy College? I cannot imagine that a matter affecting a current student would be dismissed in this way. As a parent who entrusted Mercy College with their child’s education and wellbeing for years, this is disheartening and frankly, unexpected. It is also important to point out that this bullying is not an isolated incident that began outside of the school. It is, in fact, a continuation of behaviour that originally started while my daughter was a student at Mercy. This makes it even more concerning that the school would take the position that it is ‘beyond your jurisdiction.’ In my view, there is a clear connection to the school community, and I believe Mercy has both a moral and pastoral responsibility to acknowledge and address that link.”
To date, I have not received a reply back from the school. This silence only adds to the disappointment and shows a lack of willingness to engage with serious concerns.
The Principal’s stance and lack of accountability were deeply troubling. No parent should be left feeling that their child’s safety is not a priority. No student should be forced to leave a school due to bullying, only to face the same issues again afterwards.

Some of the teachers can’t teach and it’s a sad school. Lots of people don’t get the mental health attention they need. And like said above the teachers dgaf
dont send your kids here, mercy will destroy their mental health
save yourself while you can. mercy college is such an uncomfortable school to be at from not being aloud to use the bathroom during class to teachers giving you a community service punnishment for grabbing textbooks from your locker before a class. the school does have positives like a pretty good music program and learning support team that does the bare minimum but overall the school is so emotionally draining to be at. students will continuously get punishments for defending themselves. girls could swear push and shove another and get get a speech about their behaviour but god forbid someone stands up and tells them to stop nah thats lunchtime rubish duty for you loser! teachers especially 2 treat their students like absolute animals and have an extremly short temper. to the point where if a student handed in work but the teacher couldnt find it and yelled t the student for arguing then finds the work in her pile later and STILL BLAMES THEV) STUDENT? no ty if it werent for the mhsic program and my parents i would have left years ago. i could be writting so much more but ill get so detailed i wont remain annonymous so send your kids to the right school not mercy!!
Overall, the school is good, but I think that they can definitely employ some better teachers. Some students complain about how horrible the school is, but I think the reason to this is because they do things in which gets them in trouble, aggravating them and making them think this. I definitely think that the school focuses on things that shouldn’t be focused on so much, for example they strictly do not allow students out of class unless emergencies. I do think this is quite absurd, considering that we cannot control our bladders? The education is quite average, they follow the curriculum, but they are not extremely strict.
