Honestly, don’t send your kid to Mitcham Girls. My experience there was pretty terrible, and I want to save you and your child from the same issues.
First off, the school has a major racism problem. I was treated unfairly because of my skin color way too often. For example, when I was sick and needed to rest in the sick bay, they wouldn’t let me in because of my brown skin. But if a student with lighter skin needed the same thing, no problem at all.
The school is also awful at handling bullying. I was constantly harassed by a girl, and instead of helping me, they expected me to apologize just for standing up for myself. They even made up a story saying I swore at her, which I didn’t. This happened a lot, and I always felt unsafe. The well-being staff knew I didn’t have many friends, so they pretty much ignored me when I needed help. Whenever I tried to talk about it, I was just sent back to class. Yes, sometimes they would let me in depending on who's the staff but mainly I was just treated like some mentally ill person.
They might say they’re all about inclusion and support, but that’s just a facade. I’m even writing a book about my experience to show how things really are.
And the cafeteria? Forget it. The food is super overpriced, and you barely get anything. They once served me pasta that was practically raw and insisted it was fine!
There were also issues with fake friends, and the school tried to make it look like I had mental health issues when I didn’t. It always seemed like they wanted to make the victim look bad. Like, there was this situation where a girl’s laptop got purposely broken by someone else, and instead of fixing it or addressing the issue, the school just made them sit together and apologize. The girl with the broken laptop didn’t get any help, and the other student faced no consequences.
The teachers can be rude and definitely show a ton of favoritism.
So seriously, think twice before sending your kid here. They deserve better than what Mitcham Girls has to offer.
the school itself is nice but the people and the teachers are terrible, they don’t help and make ur life miserable, and all the people are fucking weird and mean.
