Mountain creek overall is a bad school. I’m lucky that i’m generally pretty well of naturally for grades, because the teachers teach next to nothing there, teaching basically everything except for what is actually needed to get a passing grade. The teachers care far more about skirt length and jewellery than they care about children’s educations. We’re taught about bullying and how to report it but when it happens teacher’s couldn’t care less. Additionally, the school destroys kids mental health. Once, I overheard a grade six who was moving into grade seven at the school that they deeply care about mental health, and it is heavily talked about weekly in pastoral care, however this is a lie. Teachers need to invest more time into their actual jobs than giving detentions for skirt and jewellery.
If you aren’t gifted academically or physically there is no support, no encouragement. If you aren’t succeeding enough they strongly push that you leave the school and constantly remind you when you in senior that you don’t have to be there and aren’t worth their time which can become very disheartening when a student is in their final years however, from my experience it’s the teachers that encouraged and supported me to graduating and getting into University however without those selected teacher it can be a very vile environment.
Racism is so under delt with. My year 9 child(asian) is continuously called "chink" and has people calling her dog eater IN FRONT of teachers and the consequence for them is a simple "chat" whereas wearing wrong uniforms are a detention. This school needs to stop the racist bs and make heavier consequences for racism because being more strict on uniform than discrimination is not on.
Teachers and staff do nothing about harassment and bullying reports. Staff and teachers care about jewellery, uniform and phones more than our mental health and well-being, most of the time cannot find school work when absent.
