most of the teachers are obsessed with their authority and students are not treated fairly until they reach year 12. i’ve been to many schools previously where they encourage diversity and individuality within the students while providing them with various learning opportunities and facilities, this is unfortunately not the case for port lincoln high school. students are forced to not express any form of individuality (particularly with their clothing/uniforms) and are scolded if they do so. i’m glad that i’ve only spent 2 and a half years at this school as i fear this strict authoritative attitude would have negatively impacted me as a person. all of my siblings have attended this school and have all dropped out for (mostly) reasons to do with the school’s environment. many of my friends have also dropped out of this school for reasons such as the mainstream classrooms not respecting or adhering to disabilities like ADHD. this is also the only public high school in port lincoln, which gives lower classed students no choice. the lack of opportunities provided by the school is shocking considering the new campus facilities, and, the only opportunities that are provided by the school are pathways into industries such as fishing that are centred around port lincoln. additionally, the ban on phones seems so inconsiderate to those who dont have any friends or suffer from social anxiety and are therefore forced to sit alone, without any stimulation. overall, this school lacks vital aspects like diversity, individuality, and opportunities.
