It was nice enough when I was there, but after a turnover in Principals the culture changed and some of the greatest teachers left.
The school plays favourites in every cohort, usually legacies or gifted kids. They’ll stick with them unless a student does something incredibly wrong (or a new, extraordinary student arrives).
I was there for 13 years and remained very involved in programs and clubs until I graduated - but I wasn’t one of the select few. Ultimately, I was supported by the staff but I hardly felt like they were invested in me.
I was at redeemer from prep until grade 9 where I moved elsewhere. When the school was under principal Ms Crooks, the school was going poorly. My brother vaped once - which I admit is a poor decision on his behalf - but they decided to expel him for this in under 7 hours. Literally in less than a day. This sent him spiralling into issues.
The school is now under much better management, thankfully.
However, another note is that the bullying at redeemer - albeit not being extreme - is never brought up or addressed by teachers.
On a good note, the music department is excellent and the teachers in the music department are lovely.
