An unashamedly right of centre relic of a school

As a catholic all-girls school, St Saviour’s is able to maintain an overall outdated and bare minimum stance on diversity. Teachers have been known to make racist and homophobic comments such as “all of you African girls are too loud” and “you better pray for forgiveness” (said to a girl who was exploring her sexuality). The tuck shop food will give you indigestion and most likely an upset stomach. I have been assaulted multiple times by different students while living in the boarding house and it got so bad I had to leave. Student concerns and voices are often overlooked or ignored. Not many accomodations for students with learning disabilities, mental health issues and sensory problems such as SPD and Autism.

We have many transgender and nonbinary students who feel silenced and isolated by the staff members and school policies. Pronouns and preferences on names are often ignored even when the name has been changed in the system and on rolls.

Many teachers hold a bias including the principal about students they favour and the last school captain and the 2024 captain have both been the principals nieces. Students have been known to pay off or heftily donate to the school in exchange for leadership roles. This bias is upheld in their disciplinary procedures as some students seem to be untouchable. One girl is known to be a bully to so many girls and has openly made fun of a girl who was r*ped saw no consequences after this was brought to the attention of the wellbeing and leadership staff. There was and probably still is a massive vaping problem with the junior students and it lead to all bathrooms being locked through the school day. This felt horrible and violating as there was no way to deal with a menstrual emergency or anything of the sort during classes and at breaks we would be patted down and searched before using the only open lavatory block in the school which would be full of kids vaping anyway.

Many of the students openly hold racist views towards our large population of indigenous students. We are seen as lazy and stupid even by some teachers or other times when the discussion is about culture or race we are immediately used as the example by a teacher. This feels like being put on display instead of discussing real issues.

While religious views are not forced by the school they are assumed and upheld, there is no accommodations for Muslim students to pray and many are given consequences for trying to dress more modestly in our summer uniform as it does not fully cover the arms or legs.

Overall I am only at this school because I am about to graduate and don’t want to risk my QCE by moving. This does not fully encapsulate the negative experiences faced by students of the school but it does provide some insight into the problems with this school as seen by myself and those close to me.

Bad school

My daughter went to this school, she cried everyday and begged me not to make her go, after she came home she would have run to her room and cry for hours on end. I asked her what's up, she said she hates the school, the teacher and everything, everyone sucks
