St Spyridon College

The school has terrible management, and they do not know how to run a school to make everyone happy. Teachers complain about the rules and management as well. The people here are alright, most are nice but then most of them are just attention seeking losers. The girls bathrooms have blades in the toilets, graffiti on the walls and bird shit on the floor. In the winter the whole school congregates into the tiny canteen area at breaks as it’s too cold to go outside and we aren’t allowed in actual classrooms. We lowkey get treated like animals and the student’s opinions will never be considered. I don’t hate going to school as I like most of my teachers and classes but so many teachers have left the school recently. And they all fuck off to Greece, leaving the year 12s to teach themselves content before trials because they don’t do their jobs right. Plus we have racist teachers who openly say degrading things about other students or staff in the school to their classes. Wouldn’t find this at any other school.

The school is racist, Mostly its staff. Mainly the Dean of studies, Dean of Well-being and The Principal. Several other teachers have exemplified this as well. Additionally, they also abuse their own power and authority on a daily basis for their own fun. They lack any empathy towards students and care more about the colour of one’s sock than their own education. The school lacks a sense of belonging and community from people who aren’t Greek. As a student, I am Not proud to say I attend this school. Bullying and Vapping is a constant issue and Teachers don’t hesitate to tease and degrade students either. Miss Kokinellis ( Dean of Well being ), is a addicted smoker, much like most of the staff, and has even been caught smoking on school grounds. The school spends little to no money on the actual school and the needs of the school. Infact they have recently foregone their laptops and computers for Budget cuts. Additionally the Bathrooms are atrocious and there are barely enough classes for students. The Education itself is at a above average standard with high standards for grades and even some good teachers. For the most part, it’s a dread to simply have to go to school, I can’t say I have ever joined a single part of the school. Additionally, the year 10 Greece trip was permanently cancelled since 2020.

However I will say, they have good sporting facilities and even a gym. Furthermore they even have opportunities for individual students to play and grow as Athletes.

Continuing, The school has a Quarterly church attendance and has a mandatory Prayer at the start and end of every day and shows great appreciation and respect for the Orthodox religion. Even going so far as the teach it as a subject from year 7 to year 10.
The school also teaches students Greek for 4 years. Which if you are a beginner, you won’t learn much , if at all. But if you are Greek and have some experience around the language, it can be beneficial.
