this school honestly just sucks, there's like one or two good teachers who are actually nice and the rest of them can be kind of rude, are bad teachers or just stress you out. this school has a reputation for success but this isn't from the school itself, it's just the students attending tutoring. aside from that the uniform is so old fashioned and the school overall is just stuck in the 1800s, the junior uniform looks like the type of thing you'd find girls wearing hundreds of years ago, the school building is old and really depressing and there are spiders everywhere. you should definitely not send your kids here cause it's not a very positive environment
My procrastination of writing an English essay has led me to this
The school uniform is so ugly. The school colours are brown and yellow. I have a friend whose school was doing a debating contest on which school has the ugliest uniform and they won arguing our’s is. There’s also a stupid rule against us wearing our sports jacket when we’re not doing sports even when its winter and the ugly school uniform barely keeps us warm. As for the education in this school it’s really not as good as you would think. There are some good teachers but trust me there are an equal amount of horrible teachers that not only don’t teach you anything but also give you trauma. I’m sure the only reason this school is one of the “top” schools is cos of the competitive environment between students and not the school itself. Students just all go tutoring outside of school. There’s also times when a student teacher with no experience whatsoever gets assigned to a year 12 class. Honestly, you’d think year 12 would get more prioritised. Oh yea, our school is really poor. The paint on the walls are constantly peeling off and there are holes in the ceiling which leads to a leakage on rainy days where the school proceeds to put a bucket underneath the hole for days. We also don’t have air con because the place is a stupid heritage site and they use our school fees to do things like get new metal bins or implement a useless system detecting carbon levels in the air. The food sucks too. Oh and did I mention our school is mosquito infested and they haven’t, nor do I think they’re planning to, get rid of this problem. Anyways if you’ve read this far congrats on getting through the tip of the iceberg of the many complaints I have about this school.
The teaching is not bad, but it mostly depends on which teacher you get (and the quality can vary greatly, I’ve heard some not great things about certain teachers). Subject selection is quite limited, especially compared to other schools, with some subjects being removed entirely if there aren’t enough students for the course (sometimes despite there being enough students for the course, it still won’t be run). Canteen food is not great but expensive. The school itself has no air conditioning and can get extremely hot during summer and spring. The school environment can be stressful as well, since you’re constantly pressured to do well by teachers and your own cohort. However, the other students are very friendly (in my experience) and we have a decent variety of cocurriculars.
While this school is very prestigious, it does not have the best environment. This is a selective school which requires a test to get into, and is one of the top (smartest) schools in NSW. As a result all the students here are very competitive and do not care for much other than academics. The teachers and resources are mostly average however we do have some benefits (Governors centre) from sharing with Sydney Boys. The location is great as it is close to the city and you often get girls from as far away as the Blue Mountains. Don’t think that your life is over if you go here, there are always a handful of girls in each year who are normal and sane however do watch out. In terms of cocurriculars, we do have some odd sports (eg rowing, riffling) however don’t have some common ones like soccer and touch which is a bit annoying. If you chose to come here, I’m sure you’ll excel academically (scaling for hsc here is also very good) but make sure you’ve got a system and community outside of school life. I don’t hate it here because I have lots of other friends and do lots of clubs outside of school. Also although our gate just got replaced (last year a homeless man broke into our school and slept in the english staff room) there is a massive hole and me and my friends noticed it was very easy to get into the school.
