Despite this schools attempt to improve, there are many things that deflect from any form of improvement. The following does not speak for all teachers just a few. When attending a christian school you will expect there to be a presence of Christian beliefs and actions although through my experience I have been disappointed in the way many of the teachers at this school are twisting the words of the bible to justify their words. In 2022 students from years 10 to 12 were divided into groups of male and female for a “panel” meeting of teachers at the school to discuss any questions we may have in regards to Christian views. I only attended the female group but was subject to disgusting statements. To summarise the panel members told us that if we are raped it is our fault, to never have an abortion because other people will want your kid no matter the circumstances, divorce is bad always and more. There was never a formal apology for these statements. I have also heard of many gay or trans students being discriminated against as “that’s not what god wants” even thought the bible says to love everyone and that everyone is made in gods image. On a lighter note, the uniform is not warm enough for Adelaide hills winters and even though staff are aware of this no additional warm peice of uniform has been added. Many of the teachers in higher years at this school use poor outdated methods of teaching requiring the student to learn the topics by themselves. This does not speak for all teachers however. There are many who do not support the gross things being told to students and many good at their job. Everyday I feel pressured to join a religion I am not.
